Fish Tales from Alex

So I lied. Instead of Luxor, Kate, her friend Alyssa, and I all went to Alexandria- city of the ancient lighthouse Pharos (no longer standing), the great library (rebuilt; now looks vaguely like a spaceship), and the fantastic fish.

Alex is well-known- and rightly so!- for having awesome seafood. There are fish markets galore and tons of restaurants serving the fresh catch of the day. We went to one called Qadoura (pronounced Adora because Egyptians are silly). It was delicious, and lots of fun. You walk in and the waiter immediately invites you to check out their display of fish on ice and pick out which ones you want. You pick a couple, tell them whether you want them grilled or fried, and go to your table to wait. A few minutes later, your fish arrives, along with side dishes like hummus and roasted eggplant. We got fried calamari and a fish each, and it all came out to about $6 each. Rockstar.
